NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS, LOS ANGELES ENDORSES CHRISTINE ESSEL

Los Angeles, California – The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-LA) proudly announces the endorsement of Christine Essel’s Campaign for Los Angeles City Council District 2.

“As a business organization focused on propelling women into economic, social and political spheres of power, we are proud to support Chris as a candidate for Los Angeles City Council.  We believe that Chris is a business-friendly candidate whose priorities in the areas of public safety, education and economic development are very much in sync with our public policy agenda as an organization,” said NAWBO-LA Board President, Jane Skeeter.

Founded in 1979, NAWBO-LA represents the interests of over 500,000 women-owned businesses in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area and works to ensure that women entrepreneurs become a public policy voice to be reckoned with, a formidable economic force, and effective agents for change in the dynamic business environment that is Southern California.

NAWBO-LA Board President-Elect, Daphne Anneet, said, “Not only is Chris a successful businesswoman who has managed multi-million dollar budgets and created local jobs, she is an accountant by training who will use her experiences to increase accountability and oversight in City Hall to ensure that taxpayers funds are not wasted or mismanaged.  She will also bring a strong voice in support of women-business owners and work hard to create an environment in which women-owned business can thrive in our city.”

“I have known Chris for more than a decade and she has always been a strong voice for women. She will continue be that strong voice on the City Council. She is a natural choice for our organization,” commented Wendy Mitchell, Vice President of Public Policy.

The Second Council District serves the communities of Lake View Terrace, La Tuna Canyon, North Hollywood, Shadow Hills, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Sunland, Sun Valley, Tujunga, Valley Village, Valley Glen and Van Nuys.
