WOMEN BUSINESS OWNERS ENCOURAGED TO REACH THEIR PEAK WITH NAWBO-LA CAPACITY-BUILDING PROGRAM STARTING IN LATE MAY

(LOS ANGELES) Are you a woman business owner looking to rise above the current economic downturn and raise your business to the next level? If so, take advantage of the opportunity to join the spring 2008 session of the National Association of Women Business Owners – Los Angeles Chapter’s (NAWBO-LA’s) PEAK Leadership Academy SM . The next session of this renowned capacity-building program begins May 27; register online at www.nawbola.org.

Presented by the Legacy Society of NAWBO-LA and NAWBO-LA corporate partners – Citibank will sponsor the upcoming session – PEAK provides high-impact content in a setting that optimizes quality interactions and a premier learning experience among an exclusive group of peak-performing women. Dr. Yvonne Randle, vice president of Management Systems Consulting Corporation and a lecturer at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, serves as the primary course instructor.

Specific program deliverables include:

  • A professional analysis of your organizational effectiveness
  • A written and comprehensive strategic plan for your business
  • Tools and processes to ensure plan implementation
  • Access to a community of successful women business owners

“During challenging economic times like these, it’s more important than ever for women business owners to learn to build their capacity and make the transition to a professionally managed firm without sacrificing their entrepreneurial spirit,” said NAWBO-LA President and teamCFO, Inc. President Laura Yamanaka. “PEAK provides access to world-class advisors in a highly customized setting, and links business strategic plans to the financial realities of participants’ businesses to help them make smart decisions on how to manage and grow their firms.”

Added Vivienne Lee, Citi community relations officer, “It’s typically difficult for small businesses to get the right access to capital, as well as the right tools, support, education and resources to really know how to grow to be successful. Those components are the reasons why we look at relationships with organizations like NAWBO-LA, and support of programs like PEAK, that are really helping small businesses.”

Past PEAK participants speak to the value the program brought to them, and encourage other women to take advantage of this opportunity.

“What was really amazing was to have access to this level of organizational planning,” said Andrea Schaffer of Rangel/Schaffer of Pacific Advisors, Inc. “You would not otherwise have access to the caliber of advisors available through this program without paying a significant sum to hire them.”

To participate in the spring 2008 PEAK session, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Have gross revenue between $250,000-$900,000
  • Have five or fewer employees
  • Have 50% or more ownership of your firm
  • Sign a confidentiality agreement upon acceptance
  • Be a NAWBO-LA member or accept a complimentary NAWBO-LA membership
