Local Events
(LOS ANGELES) The National Association of Woman
Business Owners, Los Angeles Chapter, has begun a member recruitment drive, "Strength in Numbers," that ties into a national NAWBO, 30-year anniversary
by focusing on Los Angeles chapter offerings that better attract and serve women
business owners.
"This year, NAWBO-LA is trying new formats,
new programs and new alliances to re-energize the chapter and make membership
essential for women business owners in Southern California who want to learn,
grow, network and work with other entrepreneurs and corporations of all sizes," said Teri Bialosky, NAWBO-LA President and founder of Print Technology, a print
distributor.
"Up to 7,000 women entrepreneurs in Los
Angeles County will be receiving news about NAWBO and the chapter, with inducements
to urge them to join," added Bonnie Njist, the chapter’s VP of Membership
and president of Zeesman Communications, Inc.
As part of the 30-year anniversary national NAWBO
is offering through March 31:
- $25 discounts for new and lapsed members who
renew online at www.nawbo.org
- Entry in a drawing for new members for a free,
business financial review from Wells Fargo and up to $1,500 for activities
at any health spa or club.
- One entry for the fiscal/financial fitness
package drawing for existing members per each new member referred.
Meanwhile, NAWBO-LA celebrated its 25th anniversary
last year and began 2005 with a NEW chapter structure, offerings and alliances.
They include:
- Chapter-wide meetings rotating through four
regions – the Westside, Downtown Los Angeles/Pasadena, the San Fernando
Valley and the South Bay.
- Facilitated networking for members to obtain
new contacts and resources.
- Regional Ambassadors appointed to connect
members more closely with the chapter and with fellow members.
- Alliances with other business organizations and corporations
to provide increased political clout and additional business information and
services.
- New and more comprehensive programming, including Monthly
Membership Meetings, Quarterly Networking Mixers, Public Policy Meetings,
educational seminars and NAWBO-LA special events, such as the March 18, Annual
Leadership and Legacy Awards Luncheon.
"We are pleased that, at the same time that
the national organization and Wells Fargo have partnered to provide sign-up
inducements, our next chapter event will include content on financial fitness
from Wells Fargo," Njist said.
That event, a 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting, Wednesday,
March 23, will be held at the Sheraton Universal Hotel. Other upcoming NAWBO
events include the Friday, March 18, annual awards luncheon at the Beverly Hilton
Hotel and a May 11 free networking mixer held at Union Bank in Beverly Hills.
