MyVote

The MyVote Democracy At Work Project invites businesses, state and local government,
and nonprofit groups to help strengthen our democracy by engaging in nonpartisan
outreach to encourage employees, customers and members to participate in elections.
It offers ideas designed to spark creativity for spreading the word about voting,
and recognizes the civic spirit of everyone who takes part by listing them on
the Secretary of State’s website.
As the June 8, 2010, Statewide Primary Election approaches, Secretary of State
Debra Bowen is inviting you to join her to raise awareness about how easy it
is to take part in elections. Following are some simple, nonpartisan ways you
can communicate about registering to vote, voting and serving at the polls on
Election Day.
- Website, Email or Text Message: Add a “MyVote Election
Information” button to your website. The button, shown below, and instructions
for linking it to the Secretary of State’s voter information page are
at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/bug/bug.html.
- Newsletter: Add an information box to internal and external
newsletters.
- Paycheck or Billing Invoice: Add a short message to paycheck
stubs, envelopes or invoices.
- Be an Election Day Hero: Inspire Employees to Be Poll
Workers: Consider “adopting” a polling place, where two or three
employees can work as a team. Employees who work at the polls on Election
Day perform a vital community service. For information, please contact your
county’s elections office using the list provided at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_d.htm.
