Yolanda Nunn Gorman
President & CEO, Brilliance Strategies,
Inc.
Yolanda Nunn Gorman serves as president and chief executive officer of Brilliance
Strategies, Inc., a full service management consulting firm dedicated to meeting
the management, resource development, evaluation, and information needs of nonprofit
agencies. Gorman has extensive training in management as well as expertise in
human services and education. As director of the firm’s resource development
division, Gorman’s skills as a manager, writer and program developer have
enabled Brilliance Strategies to successfully secure a client funding ratio
of over 70 percent and more than $100 million in program funding. In addition
to authoring several papers and studies, Gorman teaches workshops on proposal
writing, evaluation, nonprofit board development, fundraising and nonprofit
management. Gorman is the author of “A Basic Guide to Proposal Writing,”
a workbook that serves as an invaluable fund raising tool for the nonprofit
community; and was named a recipient of the Richard Riordan Award for Business
Leadership. Gorman is currently the Chair of the board of the California Association
of Nonprofits, President of the Board of the UCLA Alumni Association and immediate
Past Chair of the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California. She also serves
as a member of the board of the UCLA Foundation, the California Psychological
Association, Division 3, the Chaka Khan Foundation, and the National Council
of Nonprofit Associations. Gorman has three degrees from the University of California,
Los Angeles (UCLA), a B.A. in psychology, an M.B.A. from the Anderson School
of Management and a Ph.D. in education.
